Family summer “picnic”: Carlsberg Museum

Visiting Carlsberg Museum in Valby

Every summer my family on my Danish grandfather’s side meet up for a yearly “picnic”. We always make it a cultural thing, where we visit a museum, or exhibition, park, garden or something similar. We take turns planning the ‘trip’ and this year (yesterday) it was my mom’s cousin Arne and his wife Grethe who planned it.

We went to Carlsberg’s museum in Copenhagen, Valby. It was fun to see how they started their journey and all the different bottles through the ages. Afterwards we sat outside and people had a beer (everyone got one beer in the ticket price) and then we headed through Søndermarken (a park) to visit the Cisterns in Copenhagen, which is this underground area… basically completely dark. But it was pretty cool to see.

To round it off we had dinner at Arne and Grethe’s place in Gentofte where Lise, my great cousin, had made hot dogs. It was a summer nice day! I always love spending time with that part of my family. Looking forward to next year.
